My name is Sam Lim, I’m a Freelance Photographer. I’m also currently working for Hinge Inquirer Publications as an In-House Photographer hadling magazine titles such as F&B World, Southern Living, Northern Living, Urban Living, Multisport, FIT, SoulBGC, Forbes in Touch, The Village Gazette and other advertorials for Hinge Inquirer Custom Publishing. .

I prefer shooting portraits, editorial and commercial work. But when I have the time, I also shoot street, glamour, bands and artsy stuff. I’m currently running my own business which is far long from photography. It’s a food service company named Panache Catering Services. Yes, I’m a chef by profession.

I’m from the Philippines where photography doesn’t really pay that well. If you attempt it to be your primary source of income then chances are you’ll be hanging from debts and be with your rusty ambitious camera, unless you’re really that fortunate and land all the big jobs. That explains the business I’m currently in.

Like other photographers, this was a hobby for me at first and still is. I always find that shooting is kind of like a stress reliever for me. I’m a self-taught photographer with no formal training. I attended some workshops at first but never really understood it. So I resulted in going to bookstores reading some photography books without actually buying the book because it was expensive. Then there’s the internet where I learned probably 70% of what I actually know. Downloaded instructional videos from the net and applied every bits of detail to each photograph I took through the years.
